Editor: Lorenzo Simpson (Intern) West Street Beach is in a wide sandy cove south of Aliso Beach County Park in Laguna Beach, CA. It is located right in between Aliso Park beach and Thousand Steps beach. West Street Beach is the most popular gay beach in the Laguna area, keep in mind the beach is not strictly a gay beach but is also family friendly and is a great beach to go to that is not highly populated and can peacefully do as you please. There are volleyball courts at both ends of the beach. At the north end is Aliso Point where you’ll find some unique rock formations and great tide pools when the tide is out. Has a very easy access right from West street off Pacific High way. There is plenty of parking spots available along PCH (but it get crowded very quickly, I suggest to come early to get a parking spot). It has the warm vibe, family friendly, plenty of surfers. No bonfire, no restrooms, no food or drinks stands. The reason why I love the beach is because every time I go there, I spent couple of hours or the entire afternoon at the beach and than I pack my stuff, leave my beach chair in the car and go for a nice hike up the Valido trail where I can watch the incredible sunset. The trail is 1.1 mile(s) long, it is considered as difficult but I did see many families with their children hiking up the trail. It features some steep climbs but rewards hikers with a gift at the end - panoramic ocean views. The trail is accessible year round. You can bring your dog, leash must be on and you just got to watch out for rattle snakes, poison oaks. At some point you will see a trail fork ; Toovet and Aliso peak; you want to follow Aliso Peak trail. Once you reach the top, you will see the famous bench and some of the most stunning coastal views in Orange County.
